Our Story

Built from the Ground Up, Since 1989

Wingette, Bodgit & Scarper was founded in Dublin in 1989 by Reginald Wingette, a National College of Art and Design graduate with a gift for seeing what clients needed — often before they did. Starting as a two-person consultancy in a shared Rathmines office, WBS grew steadily through the 1990s, picking up public sector commissions, IDA-supported product development projects, and a growing reputation for delivering against the brief.

In 2000, WBS expanded into digital, acquiring a small software house that had been building e-government tools. In 2007, the firm completed the purchase of an injection-moulding operation in Bray, Co. Wicklow — establishing the manufacturing capability that now forms a core part of the group's offer.

Today, WBS employs approximately 340 people across three sites and three specialist divisions. The firm remains privately held, with Reg Wingette serving as Non-Executive Chairman and his daughter Charlene Bodgit leading the business as Chief Executive Officer.

Reginald Wingette

Founder & Non-Executive Chairman

Reg founded WBS in 1989 after graduating from NCAD and has overseen the firm's growth from a two-person consultancy to a 340-strong group. A recognised figure in Irish design and enterprise, he brings a practitioner's instinct and an entrepreneur's appetite to the business he built.

Chief Executive Officer

Charlene joined WBS in 2012 as Commercial Director and was appointed CEO in 2019. A focused and commercially astute leader, she has overseen significant client growth and the operational integration of the group's three divisions. She holds an MBA from UCD Smurfit School.

Kevin Scarper

Chief Operations Officer

Kevin has been at the operational heart of WBS since 2011, developing the project governance and reporting frameworks that allow the group to manage a complex, multi-site portfolio. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and a certified project management professional.

Priya leads the design practice within WBS Consulting, bringing fifteen years of experience across service design, healthcare, and public sector innovation. Before joining WBS, she led design programmes at a leading international consultancy. She is committed to design practice that generates real-world impact, not just compelling deliverables.

Gary has led engineering and production at the Bray facility since 2009, overseeing a site that produces components and assemblies for clients across the consumer and industrial sectors. A Chartered Engineer with extensive tooling and process experience, Gary ensures the manufacturing division delivers to specification and to schedule.

Building WBS's Design Intelligence

Dr. Killian Clifford joined WBS to establish a cross-divisional design excellence function — a remit that places him at the intersection of strategy, practice, and the emerging landscape of design theory and research. He holds a doctorate in Design Theory from a leading European institution and has published widely on the relationship between design process, organisational learning, and innovation capacity.

Killian works across all three WBS divisions, introducing rigorous frameworks for design thinking, facilitating strategic sense-making sessions with clients and internal teams, and developing the intellectual infrastructure that allows WBS to articulate — and act upon — what design is for. He is the author of WBS's Design Excellence Framework, currently in its third iteration.

His research interests encompass abductive reasoning in design, the epistemology of wicked problems, and the systemic conditions that either enable or constrain design impact within complex organisations. He is currently finalising a monograph on what he terms "the pre-conditions of design readiness" — arguing that most organisations commission design before they are constitutionally capable of absorbing it.
